**Registration begins at 8:30 am. Our program will begin at 9:00 am and end at 12:15 pm. (The cut-off time for attendees looking to obtain CE credit is 9:15 am.)
EFT Couples Therapy focuses on moment-to-moment process, privileging in-session emerging attachment-related emotions within each partner and between partners. In-session emotions help therapists identify couples’ interactional patterns, and in-session corrective emotional experiences are considered change events for couples. This intermediate level workshop will utilize video-taped illustrations and role play practice to help participants learn the skill of focusing on present process to facilitate change. The workshop will also include exercises to help therapists identify their own hesitations in working with in-session emotion.
Attendees will be able to:
- Describe primary emotions and attachment-related emotions and their significance in helping couples change,
- Demonstrate EFT therapeutic techniques for focusing on emotions when they are present in the therapy,
- Utilize EFT techniques for working in the present process with emotions with role play couples, and
- Recognize therapists’ blocks to working with in-session emotion.
Nancy Gardner, Ph.D., is certified by the International Center for Excellence in EFT (ICEEFT) as an EFT Trainer, Supervisor and Therapist. She is a Co-founder, Inaugural President, and now Executive Director of the Los Angeles Center for EFT (LACEFT). Nancy is a AAMFT Approved Supervisor and a CAMFT Certified Supervisor. She taught couple therapy for more than a decade at Alliant International University in Los Angeles, and founded and chaired the couple therapy special interest group for the Los Angeles County Psychological Association (LACPA). She is also a past president of LACPA, and has been a board member and convention chair for the California Psychological Association (CPA). Nancy has post-doctoral training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, family therapy, and couple therapy. She is licensed as a psychologist and as a clinical social worker, and has a private practice in Westlake Village where she sees individual adults and couples.

Participants may earn 3 CE credits for attending the entire program. Partial credits will not be offered.
LACEFT is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. LACEFT is also an approved provider of continuing education by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists for LMFTs, LCSWs, and LPCs.
LACEFT maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
Cancellation Policy: Refunds, less a $25 administration fee, will be issued for requests made on or before November 25, 2017. We will not issue refunds that are requested after November 25, 2017.

While LACEFT goes to great lengths to assure fair treatment for all participants and attempts to anticipate problems, there will be occasional issues which come to our attention which require intervention and/or action on the part of an officer of LACEFT. The CE Chair will receive and handle all complaints, coordinating with the President and Executive Director of LACEFT if necessary, to work out a fair resolution.
